About Heather
Since childhood, and through my professional career as a Social Worker, the elderly population has been an important part of my life. For fourteen years my parents cared for my three elderly Aunts with very limited care options-all while still working and having children at home. They later cared for my grandmother under similar circumstances, and the available options for assistance never met my family’s desire or needs.
After working in the field as a case manager for many years, it was evident that a new cost-effective care option was needed to allow families to keep their loved ones close. Providing a high quality service in a home-like setting during “work hours” would allow families to stay intact while giving the senior adult a day filled with purpose. The idea for Daybreak was born.
Our primary goal is to provide our guests a safe, warm environment and an enjoyable, yet therapeutic, curriculum. By associating with peers in our beautiful setting, participating in an array of activities, and through care from our experienced staff, we have created a welcome environment in which to spend your days - days which otherwise might be spent alone or without purpose.
About Leigh
Born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, I am deeply rooted in this community. I left the area while attending the University of South Alabama, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, and a Master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation. I returned home in 1994 and have been working with special populations since. My gift (as I have been told) is working with the elderly. As a recreation specialist, I truly enjoy making days a little happier for those I have the pleasure of working with. Regardless of age or infirmity, quality of life is important.
